Rabbi Aaron HaLevi Horowitz (c. 1766–1828) was a Hasidic master and one of the most influential spiritual leaders of early 19th-century Eastern European Judaism. He founded and led the Hasidic court of Strashelye (Strashelova), in the region of Podolia, and became known for his profound piety, ethical teachings, and innovative interpretations of Hasidic doctrine. A student of the Maggid of Mezritch's tradition, R. Aaron synthesized Kabbalistic learning with Hasidic devotion and produced works of lasting significance, including Toldot Aharon (History of Aaron), which preserved teachings of earlier masters. He was revered as a guide for spiritual perfection and mussar (ethical conduct), and his descendants continued his dynasty, which remains one of the major Hasidic lineages to this day.
