Rabbi Nathan Marcus Adler

Nathan Marcus Adler served as Chief Rabbi of the British Empire from 1845 until his death. He founded Jews' College in London in 1855 to train rabbis and teachers, and issued *Laws and Regulations for all the Ashkenazi Synagogues in the British Empire* in 1847 to standardize communal practice. His principal literary work, *Netinah la-Ger*, provided a Hebrew commentary on the Targum Onkelos.
