Amboise

Amboise, a town on the Loire in central France, was the place of detention of the Algerian resistance leader and Sufi scholar Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza'iri (d. 1883), who after surrendering to the French was held with his family at the chateau of Amboise from 1848 until his release by Napoleon III in 1852.
